When we say, my soul! What is it that we are really saying?  Are speaking of our Characteristic’s?  A personal moral belief? Or who we were created to be?  When I say my soul, I’m talking about what actually makes me, Me!  Which is all of the above and a lot more!  We were born with a soul attached to our bodies then we learn to develop our inner (spiritual) energies as we progress in life and with what and how we do things morally and spiritually.  Our souls are attached to our human physical being through our Ida and id.  We have a soul, a spirit and our entity.  Within our ego we also carry a soul which allows us to experience what I call our negative and positive self.  Our minds also contains an ego (the ego consist of the Id, ego and Ida – (in Spanish Ida is the soul of a person meaning that the ego is part of your soul)).  Our mind is where we create memories (our mental ego) with what is and has happened to us within our lives.  We use our surroundings to create these memories.  These memories attach themselves to the neuron signals that we receive from our environment and the actions and reactions that occur in our lives.  We can change the structure of our negative thoughts by supplying ourselves with a positive environment that produces positive thoughts and messages.  In turn our personal being develops a positive attitude toward our actions and reactions to our surrounding environment.  We develop a positive spirit from the good that we create from our action in our environment, be it in the home or within our outer spaces.  When I say outer spaces I mean our community, work area, social networks, and study environment.  There are different ways of enlightening our selves’ either through meditation, yoga, Ti Chi, Aroma therapy, Reflexology, Visualization, Karma Sutra, Chakra or even prayer.  We need to think of enlightenment of oneself through the different forms of spirituality.

The dictionary states that the soul is a noun, a nonphysical aspect of a person. The complex of human attributes that manifests as consciousness thought, feeling and Will regarded as distinct from the physical body.

Definition of the soul from Encarta:
Soul in many religions and philosophies, is the immaterial element that together with the material body, constitutes the human individual in general.
Essence the deepest and truest nature of a people or a nation or what gives somebody or something a distinctive character.

In Philosophy

Aristotle argued that forms could not exist by themselves but existed only in particular things which are composed of both form and matter.  Humans for example are composed of flesh and blood arranged by shape with arms, legs, and other parts of the body.  He believed each species has a form purpose and mode of development.  The heavenly bodies composed of an imperishable substance and moved eternally in perfect circular motion by god. According to Aristotle the soul must be found in the scientific study of the natural tendencies of individuals rather than in a heavenly realm of pure form.  Aristotle regarded ethical rules as practical guides to a happy and well rounded life.  He also recognizes that societies differ in their needs and traditions.

Socrates thought that every person has full knowledge of ultimate truth contained within the soul and needs only to be spurred to conscious reflection to become aware of it.  His contribution to the history of thought was not a systematic doctrine but a method of thinking and a way of life. In matters of morality it is best to seek out genuine knowledge by exposing false pretentious ignorance which is the only source of evil.  We should unceasingly question our own beliefs and beliefs of others in order to seek out genuine wisdom.

Plato’s theory – A personal virtue consist in a harmonious relationship among the three parts of the soul: reason, emotion, and desire.  The ideal state of a sound mind in a sound body which requires that the intellect controls the desires and passions.

Epicureanism – Rome's philosophy.  Philosophers of the garden Epicurus adapted the garden.  Epicurus adapted the atomistic physics of Democritus, but allowed for an element of chance in the physical world by assuming that the atoms sometimes swerve in unpredictable ways thus providing a physical basis for belief in free will.

Marcus Aurelius believed that a moral life leads to tranquility and that modernization and acceptance improved that quality of ones life.

Qi
The concept of internal energy, or vital essence, goes back thousands of years in both western and eastern cultures. The GREEKS called it “FIRE”; the CHINESE call it Qi.  Qi was a central concept in the Zen BUDDHISM taught by budhidharma at the Shaolin temple and is compatible with concepts of the Tao as espoused by Lao-Tzu.  The idea is that each person, as part of the universe has access to the universal energy that animates the natural world. The anatomical region below the navel-called the Dan Tian-is the bodies reservoir of Qi.  You can learn to absorb energy from the natural world. Store it in your Dan Tian, and then use it at will. This is primarily a process of mental training.  By using your mind to focus on various body parts, you can coordinate and enhance your inner energy and physical power.  Certain exercises within self defense fitness have been devised specifically to increase Qi.  This flow has the power not only to build fighting strength but also to cure disease strengthen the immune system and generally promote health. Many of the extraordinary feats of the Shaolin Temple Martial Artists and of martial artists today-derive from the control of the Qi.  Thus developing Qi is essential in Kung Fu in life.

Confucius:
One of the misunderstandings of Confucianism is the notion of heaven (tian) – and the Christian god being separated from the world in which we live and through which our destiny is explained or determined but not visa versa.  Human beings began to be seen as a part of heaven. Heaven see’s through the eyes of the people, heaven hears through the ears of the people – which is anthropomorphic (manlike).  Heaven is virtually embodied in the people and exemplified by the people. People are merely organs by which heaven receives its sense data (distinction between sensing and judging) the will of heaven is displayed through patterns of social and natural events.  The belief that everything in the universe is governed by the same principle whether in an intentional or purely naturalistic way.  Humans can affect their destiny through their activities.  It tells not only what situation they are facing but also what kind of action should be taken given the situation.  What affect’s heaven most effectively is a moral undertaking, especially those that play by the rule?  Heaven and humans are in a special kind of part-whole relation.  The whole exhibits itself through the individual so far as the individual affects and is affected by his surroundings.  The whole is something beyond though not detached from the individual; it does not mean that everyone can affect the whole to an equal degree.

(Curiosity)-(Greek Culture - knowing for the sake of knowing itself.) Rationality was considered the defining feature of a human being, and the love of wisdom or contemplation was the source of happiness – results – the metaphysics science and technology as a manipulative power. Confusion teachings are based on two inseparable aims cultivation of oneself and manifestation of virtue. Heaven issues commands to humans from without, from above, and humans as subjects of their own life, are in a passive and inactive state. Yet heaven shows up in ones owns nature and the requirements form heaven become the requirements of nature. The in-born goodness of human nature – humans are born straight forward. (Ren-benevolence or human heartedness) (Morality and religion becomes one). Human beings are born with incipient moral (tendencies).

The Golden Rule: Do not impose upon others what you yourself do not want. “Negative” for it tells what not to do. “Positive” do to others as you ant others to do to you.

Confucians out look of the everything in the universe is interconnected in such a close way that they form continuums and the Qi may be the media by which harmonious exchange of energy between people and objects occur.

The universal soul is connected to the human soul here confuses see’s how spirituality and the individual alike is one with the energies that create the soul.  In a wayit is like what I stated at the start of the page. There is more to Confucians teachings and in order to experience what he actually means you would have to sit down and study his teachings.
